Quarries of Saint-Cloud, in the Trocadero Park

The underground quarries of Saint-Cloud (of coarse limestone) are used as building stone. The grand facade of the Colonnade of the Louvre is partly made with this stone. The rest comes from the underground quarry of Saint-Leu Esserent. It also used the stone to build the castle of Saint-Cloud, located a few tens of meters from the quarry.

The walls of building quarry were partially dismantled to get new stones. They were used to renovate the castle of Saint-Cloud in the 19th century. However, the consequences of a large fire, the foundations were razed. The stones stolen are become useless.

The construction of Fort Rimplas began in 1928, shortly after Mussolini's claims concerning the district of Nice. The Organising Committee of the Regions Fortress (CORF) without knowledge of military equipment to be integrated into the fort, the work was long and subject to many changes. The 74th Brigade Alpine Fortress takes possession of the premises in 1937, although the work is still not completed. During the Second World War, its use has been anecdotal.

An association founded in early 2008, "Friends of the Work of the Maginot Madeleine," began the rehabilitation work inside and outside and opened the door to work at the Days of Heritage 2009.

Ossa arida
Audite verbum Domini
Intromitam in vos spiritum et vivetis
Et dabo super vos nervos
Et succrescere faciam super vos carnes,
Et superextendam in vos cutem
Et dabo vobis spiritum
Et vivetis ossa arida

Listen, dry bones.
Listen to the voice of the Lord.
The mighty god of our ancestors,
Who created a breath beings,
Join your separate nodes.
You will pick the new flesh.
The skin will form on them.
Bone dry, you will live.

Overview of the site. The central building was designed by architects Raymond Lopez and Marcel Reby and was completed in 1959. It is a unique example of building completely dry mounted by the use of metal structures and features glass curtain walls are totally independent of the metal structure. It was added to the inventory of historical monuments, but the tribunal has overturned this ruling. For what? Selling appartments to freaks?

This corridor is almost completely around one of the last level gave me the solution to the legend that surrounds the courthouse in Brussels. Indeed, the legend says there are so many rooms that nobody really knows the number. It would suffice to count them you say? Certainly, but the legend also says that some rooms are hidden! And it's true! This corridor will lead to narrowing to a dead end. But shortly before, once a straight line (since it is the turn of the last square base, so that makes 4 times) there is a steep staircase, added a bit anyway, which is sometimes blocked the passage a pipeline. This staircase leads into empty rooms mysteriously seem to have been recently refurbished (light, electrical outlets). Impossible to know what they were good or what they will be used, it is already difficult to access with empty hands, imagine the trouble we have to make a table! No other access to these rooms, no windows.
